"Wabi-sabi…a world view centered on the acceptance of transience and imperfection; an aesthetic sometimes described as one of beauty that is ”imperfect, impermanent, and incomplete”.

ART-FOCUSED: Ardine Nelson

Bonfoey Gallery is pleased to introduce our Art-Focused series for spring & summer 2023. We will be featuring the recent works of artists new to Bonfoey’s.

First up, Columbus artist, Ardine Nelson…from an early age, Ardine had a strong interest in plants and flowers. This love of nature can be seen in her newest body of work, Transitory States.

Transitory States shows the visual beauty of plants as they go through their aging process and life cycle, to remind us that beauty exists outside of our percieved prime. "Our cultural emphasis on youth, freshness and perfection, misses the importance of experience, of life well lived.  My images explore the aging process and all the signs of passing time.  Surfaces wrinkle and may fade.  Small creatures suddenly appear on plant materials attempting to live from its declining vigor.  Any hint of fragrance no longer remains to enjoy.  As negative as this may sound, I have come to embrace the aging process and look to a more mature appreciation of all stages of life."

These fading beauties will be featured in our street level gallery until  May 31stPlease come take a look, you never knew a wilting flower could be so beautiful!

Prints are sold unframed. Please contact the gallery for sizing, pricing and framing information. [email protected]
