Collage is magical!  I feel most comfortable and gratified working in collage

I begin my process by monoprinting.  My monoprints often have handmade Japanese paper or pages of text glued to the printmaking paper.  Multiple runs through the printing press insure me of layers of color and texture and often unplanned surprises.

The monoprints provide me with material for my collages.  They are cut or torn and then combined with ephemera- saved maps, ticket stubs, old book pages, envelopes or envelope linings, etc.

The magic happens when disparate images find a new place to call home and are surrounded by other, often old saved images.  The combinations and possibilities for pairings are infinite.  And yet, when images connect and work, you just know it.  The fragments speak to each other.
