Artist Statement My paintings are a balance of unforeseen elements and accidents, combined with distinctly rendered printed passages. These works, on paper, canvas and wood begin with mixing and pouring latex and archive paints in many layers resulting in a balance of unforeseen elements and happy accidents. I collectively layer color, gestural marks and rich patterns into the work while the pieces are wet. Scraping, brushing, rolling, printing and sanding techniques are also used in the process. The juxtaposition of loose brushwork with tight hand painted patterns creates a dichotomy that is meant to intrigue the viewer, with color serving as the primary motif that threads the multiple images together.

For me, painting is an intimate, self-involved craft, a gestural marriage of materials. The resulting abstract compositions highlight my pure love of paint.
