Sam Roth was born in Youngstown, Ohio in 1944. He received his Bachelor’s degree from Youngstown State University and his Master’s Degree from Cleveland State University. He started his career as an educator and after fifteen years, he began working in the art and design industry. Sam has always been an artist, creating through photography, but mostly painting. Working in his studio, daily, the focus of his paintings are best represented as atmospheric, abstract expressionism. His work has evolved from the influence of his spiritual studies and personal inner journey. Sam's artwork has been described as poetic and mysterious, filled with an array of subtle rich colors and elegant gestures.
In 2009 Sam and his work were featured on Public Television and as a result one of his paintings was placed in the Cleveland headquarters, IdeaStream. He recently completed a large commission, an 8’ x 7’ painting. His work is in many private and corporate collections. He is represented in Cleveland by the Bonfoey Gallery & Art Source, TRA Art Group in Detroit, Addington Gallery in Chicago and Hal Katzen Gallery in New York City. He currently resides in Cleveland Heights, Ohio and his studio is in the Murray Hill School House in Cleveland’s Little Italy neighborhood.
